My Dad’s raw unheated fynbos honey is a marvelous local product. They have about 1700 active hives scattered around the Overberg, Stellenbosch, Somerset West and Franschhoek areas of the Western Cape. Honey is known to have antioxidant, antimicrobial, and soothing effects. Raw honey has higher nutrient content than processed honey, including Vitamins A, B1, B6, B12, C, D, E; folate, calcium, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium, silicon, iron, manganese, and copper. When it contains local pollen it can help fight seasonal allergies.
